Nurse For Vietnam
(N.Z. Brott Ameiation) WELLINGTON, May 26. Sister M. Torrey, of Tauranga, is to be the first Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps sister to serve in South Vietnam, the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) announced today. Mr Thomson said Sister Torrey would be joining Australian nursing sisters with the Australian field ambulance at Vung Tau in June. Her work would involve ward supervision and theatre duties. Sister Torrey is attached to the base hospital at R.N.ZA.F. base, Woodbourne, Blenheim. The field ambulance is part of the Australian task force in which the New Zealand artillery battery and the infantry company are elements.
