LAST OF AUCTIONS

The last of a series of twoday auction sales of the estate of Gwendoline M. Fleming ended yesterday when more than 400 lots of china, glassware and household items were sold in the Canterbury Horticultural Society Hall.

About 3000 lots were sold in the eight days, although yesterday interest seemed to tall off towards the end of the sale. Among the items sold during the four sales were more than 100 glass and china cats and more than 1000 items of jewellery. The highest price paid during the sales was £4OO for a two and a half carat solitaire diamond ring set in platinum. A brooch with a central heart shaped diamond of about two and a half carats

surrounded by 148 smaller diamonds set in onyx and platinum was passed in at £5OO, but was sold later by private treaty. About 200 lots of unused linen, including sheets, towels and sets of table linen were also sold during the sales.

Royal Welsh. Prince Charles should be taught Welsh thoroughly for his investiture as Prince of Wales at Caernarvon Castle in 1969, a North Wales councillor said today.—Pwllheli, May 26.
