Six Jobs, 60 Applicants
(N.Z. Freer Auociation) AUCKLAND, May 26. An advertisement for six carpenters had drawn nearly 60 applicants, Mr A. Russ, secretary of the Auckland branch of the Carpenters’ Union, said today.
However, said Mr Russ, on the bright side was that up to 20 carpenters who were to have been dismissed through redundancy on the South Pacific Hotel job were being kept on at least two months.
