Expo 67
Sir,—May I quote a passage from a letter sent from Ottawa? “The boys were very excited by their first visit to Expo. 67, but I imagine we shall have to go half-a-dosen times to see everything. Unfortunately there is no New Zealand pavilion; Australia is the nearest we can get What a pity, as all reports so far are excellent and the crowds have been far beyond expectations. Jonathan is going from school next week-end, and they organised a car-wash to raise funds, making over $200.” Aa the exposition took several years to plan and some buildings were begun over three years ago when we were in a state of comparative affluence, one concludes that Government was afraid to take the risk of Expo. 67 being a “flop” when they decided not to be represented on the grounds of cost —Yours, etc, G.B.W.
