Wool
Sir,—Your leading article, “Wool and its Competitors,” was most interesting, Listening to the debates in Parliament, I have come to tile conclusion that the Government blames the fall in wool prices for our economic position. I X
Hie storage of wool is not a Government decision but one mode by the farmers’ represen tatives, the Wool Board. The Prime Minister is on record as stating the Government will back any overdraft Incurred by the Wool Board to buy in this wool. It would appear that the private section of the community whose decision has caused our economic situation is being backed by the Government, which includes 27 fanners and is taxing the people to provide the funds to guarantee the decision made. Is this social security farming?—Yours, etc. May 26, 1967. W M '
