Doubtful Starters
"The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN. Carpenter (Waimate Cup) and Red Harken (Studholme Steeplechase) are two well-performed runners which could mtee their engagements at the Waimate meeting tomorrow. Carpenter will not make the trip unless the track Is soft. Yesterday the track was reported to be la excellent order with the sting out of it. Carpenter could be reserved for the Dunedin meeting next week.
Red Harken may also be reserved for the Dunedin meeting. But his trainer. J. S. McKay, will still have a runner on the field. It will be Dark Jester, which has recovered from a bruised foot which prevented Mm from racing in -the Hazlett Memorial at Gora last week.
