Slowness In D.C. Price Releases
(By Our Grocery Reporter) One problem facing retail and grocery traders in their preparation for the change to decimal currency has been the slowness of many manufacturers in notifying their new prices in decimal currency.
At present only slightly more than half the manufacturers have released their new rates.
Numerous D.C. training classes have been arranged by the Decimal Currency Board and these are currently running throughout the country. As long as all In the grocery trade are conversant with the new currency, the change should be quite a reasonable one with few problems.
Canned Apricots.—New Zealand’s major processer of canned apricots has completed
canning the new season's pack. The processer reports that the pack is up to expectations and should be adequate to meet the demand for the forthcoming year.
Dried Apricots.—Stocks of new season’s Australain dried apricots are . arriving on the Christchurch market and relieving the shortage. Australian dried apricots have always been a favourite here and for the last season or so the' popular grades
have not been readily available. Packers of these apricots, however, have been able to fulfil most orders with the better grades which are the good sellers In New Zealand.
Gherkins. A Christchurch manufacturer can now offer a quantity of gherkins. These have been In short supply in Christchurch for some time. The new pack is in 7oz jars with retail price of 4s Hew Chease.—The processer of Chesdale cheese is introducing Colby, which has been produced In New Zealand for some years. This new variety will join the wide range of Chesdale cheeses which Are already available and the new Boz packets will sell at a suggested 2s 4d each.
