Rail Yards Attacked

United States Air Force planet attacked railroad yards north-west and north-east of Hanoi in renewed strikes yesterday against North Vietnam’s main links with China. After the 24-hour truce in the war. Thunderchief jets destroyed some 20 railroad waggons in yards 47 miles north of Hanoi and blasted supplies in the Kep rail yard, 38 miles to the north-east of the city. A military spokesman said the Air Force planes also
bombed and heavily damaged a surface-to-air missile site north-west of the port of Haiphong. In the southern part of the country, Canberra fighterbombers attacked an ammunition dump near the port of Dong Hoi, the spokesman said. Five Americans died and 14 more were injured in a Viet Cong attack on a United States infantry unit near the Cambodian border yesterday. Armed helicopters and artillery were called in to assist the United States company and the Viet Cong withdrew after a 90-minute bombardment with mortar, rocket and machine-gun fire.
