fSpeetol Cnpdt. N.Z.P.A.)
SYDNEY, May 24.
Christine Bartlet, a young New Zealand actress, is making a name for herself in musical comedy productions in Sydney after dabbling in every kind of theatre in three countries.
Christine, a. 27-year-old Auckland girl, has tried her hand at Shakespeare, classical ballet, jazz ballet, singing and dancing, and wants to work in intimate revue.
She has spent the last 16 months in Australia, after two and a half years in Britain.
Christine plays the role of Linda in the Menzies Theatre restaurant production of “Pal Joey," which opened in Sydney last night, and it is her fourth part in local musical productions. She plans to return to England soon, where she hopes she will be able to develop as a straight actress in dramatic roles.
