Police Find Jersey
Police patrols on beaches in the Ashley river mouth area have found a jersey believed to be the one a youth had with him when a boating accident occurred at the Ashley bar last Sunday. Dennis Dearnley, aged 17, of 45 Portsmouth street, has been missing since he was thrown into the water when a dinghy capsized on Sunday afternoon. The jersey was found on the beach between Woodend and Kaiapoi, about six miles from the Ashley bar. It is not known whether he was wearing the jersey when the dinghy capsized.
Police and civilians have been patrolling beaches in the vicinity, but apart from the jersey no trace has been found of the youth.
