Programme For Theatre Travel In 1967
The Canterbury Theatre Trust has released its choice of nine plays and a revue which it will produce in Christchurch and on tour throughout Canterbury and the West Coast from the opening of its season on July 3 through to the end of 1967. All Christchurch performances will be held in the reconstructed Repertory Theatre, Kilmore street. Subject to the availability
of performing rights and the availability of theatres, the following plays have been chosen: — “Black Comedy and White Lies.”—Written by Peter Shaffer, produced in Christchurch from Jqly 3-15. “Bus Stop.”—Written by William Inge, produced in Christchurch from July 22 to August 2; taken on tour from August 3-16. “The Killing of Sister George.”—Written by Frank Marcus, produced in Christchurch from August 26 to September 9. “The Homecoming.”—Written by Harold Pinter, produced in Christchurch from August 28 to September 9. “The Importance of Being Earnest”—Written by Oscar Wilde, produced in Christchurch from September 16-27. Either “The Killing of Sister George,” “The Homecoming” or “The Importance of Being Earnest” will be taken on tour from September 28 to October 11. “Anns And The Man” and “O’Flaherty V.C.”—Written by G. B. Shaiw, produced in Christchurch from October 14-28. “Bedtime Story.”—Written by Sean O’Casey, produced in Christchurch from October 1727 as a lunch-hour show. “The Lady’s Not For Burning.”—Written by Christopher Fry, produced in Christchurch from November 4-15. Either “Arms And The Man” or "The Lady’s Not For Burning” will be taken on tour from November 16-29. “Beauty And The Beast.”— Written by N. S. Gray, produced in Christchurch from December 1-9. “Revue.” —An original revue will be produced in Christchurch from December 13-23.
