Died From Scalds
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 23. A man who was scalded when he fell into hot mud and water at the Auckland Gas Company works in Freeman’s Bay on Monday died in Auckland Hospital today. He was George Gregory Costello, aged 64, married, a retired farmer, of 42 Ariki street, Grey Lynn, and formerly of Waihi. Mr Costello fell into the hot water when the footpath collapsed.
Mr J. Watling, a member of the Canterbury Horticultural Society for 19 years and a judge of garden competitions and flower shows throughout Canterbury has been made an associate of honour of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. Only 42 others hold the honour. Mr Watling is a life member of the National Rose Society of New Zealand and the Canterbury Horticultural Society, and is patron of the Canterbury Rose Society.
