Red Medallion Easily

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Red Medallion scored an easy win in the Hobsonvilk Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double on the second night of the Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday. After being in front from the start, he drew right away over the final stages. He won easing up by six lengths from Immortal. Fair Song was a creditable third, followed by Highland Flight, Mountain Pride, and Single Cash. Julie Hanover finished too well for the hot favourite, Governor Frost, in the second leg, the Puhoi Free-for-all. She beat him by a length and a half. Governor Frost took the lead at the end of five furlongs. He carried the field along at a solid Eace and weakened only in the ist half-furlong. Oakhampton completed a double for the meeting when he narrowly won the Patron's Handicap, the main race for pacers on the programme. As on the first night, the ithrqeS ear-old, Miles Gentry, pressed im close. Viking Water, the hot favourite, was third after a severe check early in the race.
