WASHINGTON, May 21. Mr Janos Radvanyi, formerly Hungary’s top-ranking diplomat in the United States, told two special envoys from Budapest yesterday that he plans to become a permanent resident of America.
The State Department said Mr Radvanyi, who defected earlier this week, met officials, sent to Washington by the Hungarian Government, for half an hour at the department.
“Mr Radvanyi reiterated his decision that he wishes to become a permanent resident of the United States,” a department announcement said.
The Budapest officials were identified as Messrs Frigyes Vadasz and Janos LorinczNagy, of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.
