FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A large slow-moving anti-cyclone centred to the east of the North Island extends on to New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson and Buller. — Northerly winds, mainly light but fresh about Cook Strait; fine weather except for fog areas this morning; mild this afternoon. Westland.—Light variable winds; cloudy with drizzle in the south; partly cloudy in the north; moderate temperatures.

Outlook: cloudy; occasional rain in Westland.
