New Zealand Fish

Fish from New Zealand is now on the menu of the liner Mariposa and was more popular than all the others, according to the chief chef, Mr John Merlo. Snapper was very popular because of its different taste from the United States variety. Whitebait was almost unknown in the United States and New Zealand crayfish was excellent, and had large tails with plenty of flesh, he said. Mr Merlo has been a chef for 25 of his 52 years, and has been in the Mariposa since her maiden voyage in 1957. “Atrocious” Lines The Christchurch Returned Services’ Association will probably have another look at poetry recited at Anzac Day services. The vice-president (Mr J. Green) who at the citizens’ service on Anzac Day read Myers's lines, "Remembrance,” told the association’s executive committee last night: "It is the most atrocious thing to try to read. There’s no rhythm and it’s disjointed. We ought to have another look at this before it comes up again next year.” Other members agreed.
