Saddle Race To Snead

A saddle race, possibly the last in Canterbury, was the highlight of an eight-race trotting programme at the Banks Peninsula Gymkhana Club’s gymkhana on the Motukarara racecourse on Saturday. The event was won by Snead, which started from the back mark and was ridden by G. A. Adamson.

Snead also ran well for third later in the day in an event for four-year olds won by Late Frost from Lustre Scott. Ail three place-getters ran well and look to be near winning form. Other good runs were by the two-year-old, Dark Rival, owned and trained by R. H. Negus; Brigade's Advice, which should not be long regaining winning form: and the trotter, Young Morris.

The day was fine and mild, but only a small crowd attended. The programme included pony club events, show jumping, and a gymnastics display. Results of the trotting events were:
