UNIVERSITY VACANCIES THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND Applications are invited for the following Chairs. Conditions of Appointment and Method of Application are available from New Zealand or Australian universities or from the undersigned, with whom applications will close early in June. The basic professorial salary is £N.Z.3600 per annum, but ft is within the power of the Council to make apopintments at £3900 per annum and £4300 per annum having regard to the qualifications of the candidates concerned. CHAIR IN ACCOUNTANCY. The Council has recently established a Second Chair within the Department, and invites applications from candidates with appropriate qualifications in Cost and Management Accounting, though applicants who have specialised in other fields will also be considered. CHAIR IN ARCHITECTURE. The Council invites applications for a Professor of Architecture to fill a vacancy created by the pending retirement of Professor A. C. Light. Applicants may be qualified tn any field of architecture. CHAIR IN CHEMISTRY. The Council has recently established a Third Chair within the Department. Applicants may be qualified in any field of chemistry. Research in the Department covers a wide field in Inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, including X-ray crystallography. The Urey Radiochemical Laboratory is an integral part of the Department for research in and teaching of radiochemistry. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN ART HISTORY. Applicants should be University graduates in the Hitsory of Art. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH. Applicants should be prepared to undertake general teaching within the B.A. and M.A. courses in the field of English lanngauge or English Literature. > SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN FRENCH. Applicants must hold at least an honours degree in French and must have a thorough knowledge of French language and literature. Preference will be given to applicants With special competence In French literature, although those qualified In other fields may also b# considered. LECTURESHIP IN GERMAN. The lecturer may be required to teach German languag# and literature at any stage from Stage I to M.A. Honours standard. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN HISTORY. Preference will be given to applicants with special interest in early modern or modern British or European history, or in modern Russian history. It is hoped that the person appointed will be able to assist in teaching 16th and 17th century European and British history to undergraduates. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN ITALIAN. The person appointed will be required to teach Italian langauge and literature within the range from Preliminary to Honours. All applicants must hold an Honours degree in Italian. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY. Applicants should possess post-graduate qualifications in Experimental and Clinical Psychology and have research interests in Clinical Psychology. They will be expected to have an active interest in research. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY. Applicants should possess post-graduate qualifications in Experimental Psychology and have research interests in Physiological Psychology. They will be expected to have an active interest in research. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN SPANISH. The person appointed will be required to teach Spanish language and literature within the range from Preliminary to Honours. All applicants must hold an Honours degree In Spanish. SENIOR LECTURESHIP IN TOWN PLANNING. Applicants will be required to lecture and conduct seminars in Town Planning Theory and Techniques and and supervise exercises. Preference will be given to a graduate in Town Planning or in an allied field and to those who have had planning exfierience to hold qualifications n Social Studies, Land Economics or Traffic Engineering. SENIOR LECTURESHIP OR LECTURESHIP IN EXPERIMENTAL ZOOLOGY. The person appointed must have qualifications and some research experience in physiology or experimental zoology. The appointee will also directly supervise research in such areas of experimental psychology as may be decided upon from time to time. Current experimental work in the Department of Psychology covers the topics of learning, motivation, perception, cognitive processes, and the biochemistry of behaviour. Salary for an Associate Professor is at the rate of 88600 per annum.
