Deductions Extended
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, April 19. Cash deductions made by companies since last year’s Budget to the New Zealand Coal Research Association for general research, or to the Departments of Agriculture, Internal Affairs, Scientific and Industrial Research and Marine for scientific research will now be allowable for tax deduction. The Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon), announcing this today, said the step was an extension of measures which already allowed tax deduction for donations to medical research.
The deduction was subject to a maximum of £5OO or 5 per cent of the company’s assessable income.
