DECIMAL STAMPS DISPLAYED
(N.Z. Press Association)
ROTORUA, April 19. New Zealand’s decimal stamp issue was on display for the first time in Whakatane today. Details of the issue were announced by the Postmaster - General (Mr Scott) when he opened a national stamp exhibition collection valued at more than £250,000. The decimal set comprises 18 stamps from the f cent to two dollars. Mr Scott said the stamps would be placed on sale on July 10. The stamps have the same design as the present issue, but with the values shown in decimal currency. In August this year a 7) cent stamp would be added to the set to commemorate the centenary of the introduction of brown trout into New Zealand, said Mr Scott. Later there would be a further addition to provide a stamp to match the overseas air-letter rate to the United Kingdom.
