Research On Coal
The recently-formed New Zealand Coal Research Association is expected to have a marked influence on increasing the domestic and industrial consumption of coal and also the efficiency of coal-fired appliances and coal-handling equipment The association, financed by the coal industry and the Government, is planning an energetic research programme to promote to the full the coal industry, second only in annual value to constructional materials in New Zealand. The coal industry’s contribution to the financing of the research association, from the existing levy of fid a ton on the wholesale price of coal, is expected to yield £45,000 to £50,000 annually. The Government is to subsidise the working expenditure £ for £ to a limit of £50,000.
