FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—The anti-cyclone in the Tasman Sea is moving eastward on to northern and central New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Light to moderate winds, northeasterlies predominating near the coast but northwesterlies elsewhere; weather fine; mild. Marlborough, Nelson.—Light to moderate west to north-west winds, freshening during the day in and about Cook Strait; weather fine; mild. Buller, Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; partly cloudy weather predominating; moderate temperatures. Outlook: More cloud.
