The New Zealand women’s table tennis team will meet Ireland today to decide the twentyfifth position in the world championships Corbillion Cup contest at Stockholm. In its grade to decide the minor placings, New Zealand lost to Jugoslavia, 0-3, and to Australia, 2-3. Details:
v. Jugoslavia.—R. Stojslc beat N. Traill, 21-9. 21-19; M. Resler beat D. Wade, 21-15, 21-13; Stojsic and R. Pirc beat Traill and Wade, 19-21. 21-19, 21-13.
v. Australia. —L. Gilbert beat Traill. 21-18, 21-17; J. Lane beat D. Wade, 21-15, 21-16; Gilbert and Lynn lost to Traill and C. Johnson, 21-13, 17-21, 18-21; Lane lost to Traill, 18-21, 17-21; Gilbert beat Wade, 23-21, 20-22, 21-14.
The New Zealand men's team beat Canada, 5-0, in a Swaythling Cup match. Details: —B. Foster beat M. Ivakitsch, 15-21, 21-17, 21-11; M. Dunn beat M. Zulps, 21-10, 21-16; A. Tomlinson beat L. Lee, 21-18, 14-21, 21-13; Dunn beat Ivakitsch, 20-22, 21-9, 21-15; Foster beat Lee, 8-21, 21-11, 21-11.
