The Rev. R. E. Coulthard, at present vicar of Lincoln, has been appointed vicar of Shirley. Mr Coulthard is a bachelor of arts of the University of New Zealand and a licentiate in theology. He was ordained by the Bishop of Christchurch in 1948. Before becoming vicar of Lincoln in 1959 Mr Coulthard was successively curate of Sumner, vicar of Malvern, and vicar of Otaio-Bluecliffs. He is married with three children. He is at present on leave of absence with his family overseas, and expects to take up his new work towards the the year.

Photo Contest.—Mrs S. J. Peverill was awarded the honours prize in the Canterbury Photographic Society’s first monochrome competition this year. The judge was Mr N. France Acceptances were Mrs K. Marsh, E. W. McGeorge, L. E. Barnard, E. W. G. Lewthwaite and J. B. Crawford.
