Milk Powder From N.Z.
New Zealard had been asked to be the supplier of milk powder to Save The Children Fund field teams throughout the world. This would save the country overseas funds and provide an “excellent talking point for the money raised in New Zealand would then be spent on our own products,” Mrs F. L. Fancourt, dominion chairman of the New Zealand Save The Children Fund, said at the annual meeting yesterday.
“We must honour our present committments, particularly in Greece and Korea, but headquarter* in London have agreed to buy the milk powder which we are unable to pay for,” the treasurer, (Mr J. A. Gillies) explained. If the money were spent here, he would require a smaller allocation of overseas funds.
It was possible that organisations in the United States and Canada which sent milk powder to the fund's teams would give the money to headquarters instead.
In supporting the proposal, Dr. D. L. Richwhite, of Auckland, said he was sure the fund’s credit would stand
high with the public if it were decided to spend a substantial sum of money raised here on New Zealand milk powder.
A motion was passed that the New Zealand fund agree in principle to supply milk powder to all field teams.
