TELEVISION COVERAGE
Film taken at a Fendalton by-election meeting on Thursday night addressed by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) was not intended for release before the election, the district manager of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation (Mr K. M. Hay) said yesterday. Mr Hay was commenting on criticism by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) that television cameras were at Mr Holyoake’s meeting but not at his own.
Mr Hay said the filming was for a “Compass” programme on the Fendalton and Petone by-elections to be shown next week. A similar film had already been taken at Labour Party meetings in the Petone electorate.
