Birdling’s Flat
Sir,—As lam a frequent visitor to Birdling’s Flat and have property there, I would like to know why people have to cross over a cattle-stop over Beach road. This property has been subdivided—--14 acres, I believe—4o 57 bach-holders on the right of Beach road and 15 acres on the lakeside. The property is not fenced and sheep and cattle are at liberty to trespass on our properties. We have a sealed road and the stock are a menace when the ewes are lambing. As Beach road is now very much used by “rock-hounds” and fisher men, I would like to know why stock are allowed on a public road.—Yours, etc., CURIOUS. April 11, 1967. [The chairman of the Wairewa County Council (Mr W. ,C. Miller) replies: “The council does not feel that the fencing of the road is justified.”]
