SUNDAY CRICKET
A crowd of 14,075 saw cricket played on a Sunday for the first time on the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s centre wicket when the “bushfire test” between R. B. Simpson’s XI and L. E. Favell’s XI was played last week-end. In spite of a cool, cloudy day, officials were pleased with the results.
The chairman of the Victorian Cricket Association, executive and chairman of the Australian Board of Control (Mr R. Parish) described the crowd as “tremendous.” Because of this attendance Mr Parish feels there is a great potential following for Sunday cricket He thinks It could become a regular feature in Melbourne.
