Games Prospect
New Zealand could be represented by a hammer thrower In the next Commonwealth Games at Edinburgh If the progress shown by D. Gilliland last season continues. Although only 20, Gilliland is already well aware of the benefits of weight training and is now 18st His record breaking throw of 177 ft loin in the New Zealand championships was an outstanding effort. This was an improvement of 20ft on his previous best but only a small indication of his tremendous potential If he con-
tlnues serious training throughout the winter he could push the national record out well past the 180 ft mark next season.
