Pit Stops

The Canadian-American Cup series of sports-car races is to be held again this year, and the total prize-money is to be increased by 40 per cent to 500,000 dollars. There will be six races in the series, the first being on September 3, and the last on November 12. Last year the cup was won by John Surtees in his Lola Chevrolet. Each race will be at least 200 miles, and will be limited to cars of more than 2.5 litres. * # ft

The Nassau speed week in the Bahamas has been replaced by a week of Grand Prix racing frpm December 10 to 17. The Bahama Tourist and Convention Board is offering £7OOO prize money. ❖ ❖ ❖

The Circuit of Ireland rally recently was won by P. Hopkirk (Mini Cooper S), with A. Boyd (Mini Cooper S) second and C. Gunn (Lotus Cortina) third. The team prize was won by B.M.C. Gunn’s Lotus Cortina was the best-placed private entry. * * *
