Johnny Gold Sold To American

Johnny Gold has been sold by Mr R. A. McKenzie, of Wellington, to Mr M. Tananbaum, the president of Yonkers Raceway, New York.

With eight other New Zealand pacers and trotters and a thoroughbred, Johnny Gold will join a Flying Tiger CL44 aircraft in Christchurch next Monday and travel to New York where he will join up with E. Cobb’s team.

The aircraft will leave Sydney early on Monday morning carying about eight horses, including Robin Dundee, Donald Dundee, Panther Flight, Dashing Free, Dale’s Gift, Rachael McGregor and Tongue Twister. Johnny Gold, a five-year-old by Johnny Globe from Gold

Pot, did his early racing from G. H. Gate’s team at Nelson. He won three races this season for Mr McKenzie. The other horses expected to join the flight In Christchurch are Forward March and Option which are being sent to America by Mr C. L. Rhodes, Golden Oriole, Quality Inn, Elegant Hanover, Rannack Song and Bellajily. Attorney, too, is also expected to travel In the aircraft. Negotiations are in train for his sale to America. He has won two races for his Invercargill owner, Mr J. O. Crooks, jun., this season.
