Street Lighting
Sir, —The vandalism in telephone booths in Beach road is alarming. A new telephone booth has been installed, only to be wrecked again. Why does the Post Office continue to make good the damage? If the City Coun-
cil would provide decent street lighting in Beach road the vandals would not be able to operate. With the only telephone box out of action, much inconvenience can be caused. Will the City Council please have a look at the street lighting problem?— Yours, etc., RATEPAYER.
April 3, 1967. [The Town Clerk of Christchurch (Mr C. S. Bowie) replies: “It will be some time before the seaward end of Beach road is provided with the new type of street lighting. The question of temporary improvement near telephone boxes is being investigated.”]
