NEW CANOE CLUB
First Meeting To Be Held Competitive canoeing will bo provided In Canterbury for the first time on an opan basis with the likely formation on Monday evening of a Canterbury Canoo Club.
There are at preeent two canoe clubs in Canterbury: Canterbury University and the Christchurch club, which is basically for the more social types of canoeing, cruising and camping. The Canterbury club, as it will probably bo known, will cater for this type of member but its major objects will bs to provide competitive canoeing, first with the University and Christchurch dubs, in a Canterbury provincial meeting, and to instruct children and youths in the skills of canoeing. The prime movers behind the formation of the club are Messrs M. Coulter and R. Page, and Monday's meeting, at z7so p.m. at the Centennial Pool, has been called on the embryo club's behalf by Mr L. Coughlan, youth activities officer of the Department of Internal Affairs.
