“MISS AUSTRALIA” ON WORLD TOUR

“Miss Australia, 1967” —20-year-old Miss Margaret Rohan, of Adelaide, will leave Sydney on April 16 on the first leg of a round-the-world tour with Qantas.

The trip is one of the major prizes in the annual “Miss Australia” Quest and it wiU be the first time that Margaret has travelled outside Australia.

After brief visits to Honolulu and San Francisco, Miss Rohan and her chaperon will fly to Los Angeles where she will join beauty queens from around the world competing for the “Miss International” title.

Two weeks later she will begin her world tour in earnest, going to London and Europe by way of New York. Her busy itinerary will take her to Paris, Brassells, Am-

sterdam, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Rome, Vienna, Athens and Beirut, then home to Australia by way of Hong Kong and Manila. During her tour Miss Rohan will make a number of personal appearances and, as unofficial ambassadress, will tell the world about her country. A vivacious personality with a sparkling sense of humour, she is a graduate of the Adelaide Teachers’ College and a student of speech, drama and English literature. Before assuming the mantle of “Miss Australia,” and the crowded schedule attached to it. Miss Rohan divided her time between teaching primary school in her home town and such outdoor sports as swimming, waterskiing and tennis. When she resumes a nor-

mal life at the end of the year, she hopes to devote her time to welfare work and teaching handicapped children with voice defects.
