N.E.E.C.O. Down 3d On Easier Market
National Electric Engineering shares fell 3d yesterday on an easier share market, but Cable, Price, Downer were steady at 15s 9d. Most price movements were small, but the New Zealand list had 16 falls to nine rises. Turn-overs and range of trading were average.
A strong overseas section failed to prop up the market. Broken Hill Proprietary gained another 3d to 58s 9d —the shares reached 7 dollars in Sydney on Tuesday, equivalent to about 56s 6d—and Commercial Bank featured with a 9d rise to 17s 3d. The only overseas share to fall was E.Z. Industries, which lost another 6d to 18s 6d. Highlight of the New Zealand list was a rise of 9d by British Office Supplies. Winstone old and new shares rose 6d each. J. Wattie Canneries,
at 17s, and New Zealand Refrigerating at Ils 3d, gained 3d each, and 2d rises were chalked up by New Zealand Insurance, to 23s 3d, Motor Specialties, to Ils sd, and Taranaki Brewery, to 9s. Bell Radio, at 18s 6d, and New Zealand Newspapers, at 28s 6d, had the sharpest falls, 6d each. Rothmans declined another 4d, to sell at 19s 7d, General Foods and Golden Bay Cement each fell 2d, and Dominion Breweries lost Id to 15s 4d.
