NEW MOON PICTURE.—A section of the hidden side of the moon as photographed by the wide-angle lens of Lunar Orbiter 111 on its mission to record potential manned landing sites. The picture, released by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was taken from an altitude of about 900 miles looking due south, and spans about 700 miles along its northern edge (bottom). The prominent crater near the centre is about 150 miles wide.
