Federation Of Labour

Sir, —I understand that the Federation of Labour is inviting suggestions for the improvement of the organisation. They must find a leader who has the interests of country (as well as the workers) at heart, a man of strong character who would spur his members on to greater efforts and at the same time weed out the slackers and trouble-makers; finally, the introduction of discipline, which has been sadly lacking in the past. When these measures have been taken the country will have a strong and robust trade union movement which it could well be proud of and eventually prove a benefit to all.—Yours, etc., OPTIMIST.
