Shortage Of Scouters
There was an urgent need for scouters and assistant cub masters in the St. Matthew’s (Lady Liverpool’s Own) Scout Group and an allout campaign was being made to fill the gaps, said the incoming chairman (Mr J. W. Jameson) at the annual meeting. Mr Jameson said the group in St. Albans was in good heart financially, had a nucleus of dedicated leaders, and its den in Harrison street offered excellent facilities.
Co-operation of parents and former associates of the group to improve staffing was urgently needed.
Mr Jameson said the recommended strength was one scouter to every six boys. If this could be achieved tire responsibilities of leadership could be spread easily. “Scout training for boys is valuable preparation for effective citizenship,” said Mr Jameson. “I hope our committee will receive prompt offers of help.”
