Driver Will Go To U.S.
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND.
Elegant Hanover will be driven by Auckland’s leading reinsman, P. T. Wolfenden, in the three-race international series at Yonkers Raceway, New York, in June. The horse’s owner, Mr E. L. Haydon, said yesterday that Wolfenden had accepted also, the drive in the International Preview Pace at Yonkers on May 25. Mr Haydon added that he would “most probably” make the trip to see Elegant Hanover race.
Wolfenden plans to fly from Auckland on May 21. The international series starts with the 100,000 dollars International Pace on June 1. This will be followed by the 50,000 dollar Good Time Pace on June 8 and the 50,000 dollars National Championship on June 15.
Among Elegant Hanover’s opponents will be Cardigan Bay, which Wolfenden developed into a champion, and the Southland mare Robin Dundee.
