Weather Halts Rice Harvest
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, April 10. Bad weather on Saturday stopped the first attempt in New Zealand to harvest rice by combine harvester after only half an acre had been harvested on the Te Puke farm of N.Z. Ricegrowers, Ltd., Mr E. A. Vercoe said today. Mr Vercoe said that he hoped to harvest the remaining seven acres and a half as soon as the weather cleared enough. Twelve acres were sown by air, but only eight were worth harvesting.
