WIDE RANGE OF FALLS; SELLERS DOMINATE
The market declined over a wide range of issues yesterday, as New Zealand stock exchanges opened trading for the week. Turn-overs were about average, but sellers were evident.
The overseas section was firm, with rises by A.C.L, Ampol, and W. R. Carpenter, and no falls. However, in the New Zealand list falls outnumbered rises three to one, and key stocks led the decline. Andrews and Beaven rose 6d to 39s 6d, Christchurch Gas firmed 3d to 10s 3d, and B.N.Z. Finance gained Id to 12s 6d.
Falls were spread throughout the market. Textiles to decline were Lane, Walker, Rudkin, Kaiapoi-Petone, and
Manawatu Knitting Mills. 1 In breweries, Taranaki and 1 Dominion eased further. 1 Among leading stocks to 1
lose ground were N.Z. Forest Products, N.Z. Refining, Rothmans, and U.E.B. Industries.
