Failure To Speak
A correspondent has criticised the Social Credit candidate for Fendalton, Mr J. J. Forster, for his failure to give an advertised address at the corner of Kendal and Memorial avenues on Saturday evening. The correspondent, “Disillusioned Swinging Voter,” says he arrived at the comer at 8 p.m. and waited 25 minutes. Mr Forster did not appear, and he was told by a bystander that the candidate had not appeared at another meeting advertised for earlier in the evening. Mr Forster said last evening that he wished to apologise to the correspondent. Because of an error in advertising he was not able to speak at this particular comer at 8 p.m. or at the earlier meeting advertised, as he had no licence to speak at these advertised meeting places. But he did speak at these meeting places on Friday night, the night for which he had been given permission to speak by the Waimairi County Council.
