State Houses
Sir, —I would like to know who pays for the cleaning up of State houses and sections after tenants have left Does the taxpayer have to pay? I know where State tenants Lave left their places in filthy condition, both inside and out It is time some one took the matter in hand. Why should persons allotted State houses have to contend with other people’s filth?—Yours, etc..
CLEAN UP. April 6, 1967.
[Mr J. R. Hawkes, manager of the Christchurch branch of the State Advances Corporation, replies: “In appropriate cases where a vacated State house requires cleaning or removal of rubbish to put it in a reasonable condition for reletting, it is the practice of the corporation to have the necessary work done and to charge the outgoing tenant.”]
