‘RAMPARTS’ RAIDED
Kennedy File Stolen (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, April 9. The office of “Ramparts” magazine which gained nation-wide attention by its exposure of the Central Intelligence Agency’s secret financial backing of student groups —was broken into and ransacked, the Associated Press reported. “It’s very confusing,” said the publisher, Mr Edward Keating, noting that missing material included bank statements going back 10 years. He said that they also took his personal file dealing with the Warren Commission’s report on the assassination of President Kennedy. “Ramparts” recently disclosed that the C.I.A. had secretly financed through foundations such groups as the National Students’ Association and overseas’ projects of the American Newspaper Guild.
