CHCH SECOND IN NATIONAL BRIDGE
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. For the tenth time In the last U years • team captained by Mr I. C. Ball, of Auckland, has won the national teams-of-four contract bridge championships; Christchurch was second. This year’s tournament, which was played at Auckland tn two sessions on Saturday and two today, became a very close contest between Mr Bell’s team, consisting of players from the Northern Bridge Club, Auckland, and the Christchurch representatives, captained by Sir Joseph Ward. Sir Joseph Ward’s team took
an Immediate lead, but by the end of the third session only 10 match points separated the Christchurch and Northern players. Final Session The final session today gave Mr Bell’* team victory by 16 points. Besults: Northern (B. C. Bell, Mrs H. O. Taylor, H. K. Balnsby and R.
