Interest In Election
“What happened Did he win, or did he lose?” the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia (Tun Abdul Razak) asked reporters at a brief press conference at Christchurch Airport yesterday.
Tun Razak showed mock horror when told that the Chief Minister, Peter Lo, had been defeated in the Sabah elections. Peter Lo was the candidate of the Sabah Chinese Association, the Chinese wing of the ruling party. Tun Razak dismissed the loss in Sabah’s first direct general election as a blow in a small way to the federation.
“But in Sabah there are not opposition parties. They had a friendly contest.”
