Geysers At Tongariro (N.Z. Pres* Association) HAMILTON, April 7. Discovery of a geothermal “hot area” in the path of a Tongariro power project tailrace channel has meant modifications to the over-all scheme design. These modifications are being drafted in England by the consulting engineers for the power project The hot area was discovered under the site of the tail-race channel below the Tokaanu powerhouse.
Exploration and excavation work was stopped and the men involved diverted to work at the powerhouse and penstock sites.
