DOG TRIALS AT HAWARDEN
Waikari Collie Club Field Day
The Waikari Collie Club’s annual field day was held under Ideal conditions at “Taruna,” Hawarden, recently. It was to be one of the most successful days held, the three events attracting record entries, with 55 competitors entering 104 dogs, giving the judges a total of 141 runs.
The judges were Messrs D. A. Sloes, Cheviot (long pull and hold); A. Dickson, Cheviot (straight huntaway); and C. Lang, Omihl (drive and yard). Results:—
Long PuM and Hold.—lntermediate: R. N. G. Brooke’s Glen, 95 points, 1; H. Lang’s Mac, 921, 2; T. E. Barwell’s Fay, 92i, 3; J. Lee’s Silver, 92, 4. Maiden: B, N. G. Brooker’s Glen, 95 points, 1; H. Lang’s Mac, 921, 2; T. E. Barwell’s Fay, 921, 3: P. R. Rutherford’s Ned, 91, 4.
Straight Huntaway. Intermediate: H. Inch's Chum, 90 points, 1; I. W. Calder’s Jade, 951, 2; W. P. Bladster's Speck, 951, 3; J. A. Earl’s Ben, 95, 4. Maiden: J. Harris’s Craig, 94 points, 1; T. E. Barwell's Jock, 931, 2; S. E. McLean’s Sue, 931, 3; J. Lee’s Lady, 90, 4. Drive and Yard. —Intermediate: T. E. Barwell's Jet, 93 points, 1; H. T. Eder’s Queen, 911, 2; C. Burrows’ Wave, 87J, 3; J. Johnston V.F.C. ■vent The Hawarden-Waikarl Young Farmers’ Club held its annual dog trials at "Taruna,’’ Hawarden, on Tuesday. 18 competitors entered the heading, huntaway and handy events to give a total of 51 runs. Judges were Messrs I. Calder (handy) and C. Inch (huntaway and heading). Results:— Heading.—G. Calder, 95 points, 1; S. McLean, 85, 2; B. Evans, 77. 3. Novice: L. O’Carroll. Huntaway.—S. McLean, 95 points. 1; G. Calder, 94, 2; M. Sldey, 90, 3. Novice: D. Eaves. Handy.—M. Sldey, 88 points, 1; G. Calder, 87, 2: D. Sldey, 81, 3. Novice: D. Eaves. The "Taruna” Cup (for most points) was won by G. Calder with a total of 270 points.
