No Effect On Air N.Z. Fares

WELLINGTON, April 6.
The increase in airways dues and landing charges announced yesterday by the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr Gordon) will not affect Air New Zealand passenger and freight rates. The Wellington district sales manager for Air New Zealand, Mr G. Stout, said today: “Our fares are governed by international agreement and only in the very long term is it possible to incorporate local cost increases in international air fares.”
In round figures, the new scale of airways dues and landing charges would cost Air New Zealand an additional 3s a ton, said Mr Stout
