SALVATION ARMY BAND
Visit To N.Z.
From London
The International Staff Band of the Salvation Army would spend a day in Christchurch on a five-day visit to New Zealand from London in September, Brigadier S. A. Smith, commander of the Canterbury-West Coast division, announced this week. Coming to New Zealand after a short visit to Australia, the band will visit the four main centres before returning to London. It will give a public concert in the Civic Theatre, Christchurch, on September 26. Lieutenant-Commander F. Evans, a former leader of the Salvation Army in the Congo, will be the leader. The bandmaster will be Lieutenant Colonel F. Adams. The band is recognised as the premier Salvation Army band in the world.
